WordPress web design in Toronto — and the case against it
About 320 people a month type toronto wordpress web design into Google, most having chosen the platform before deciding what the site must do. This page argues it both ways. CANDIMA has no Toronto office — we build remotely from Burnaby, BC.
What 320 searches a month is actually worth
320 a month, competition LOW, cost per click $0.00. That zero misleads: it is not cheap traffic, it is no advertiser bid data at all — nobody buys the phrase. Too thin to have a market price, not a bargain. Generic web design toronto runs 3,600 a month at $16.85. This page will never fill a pipeline; it exists because whoever types a platform name is already half-decided.
| Searching WordPress by name | Monthly | Cost per click |
|---|---|---|
| Toronto | 320 | $0.00 |
| Vancouver | 110 | $0.00 |
| New York | 30 | $0.00 |
| Los Angeles | 20 | $0.00 |
| Calgary | 10 | $0.00 |
Toronto holds triple Vancouver's platform-name demand, ten times New York's — and every row shows the same zero.
When WordPress is the right call
When it is the wrong tool, said plainly
A five-page brochure. You would sign in twice a year while it demanded patching monthly. Hand-built HTML loads faster, hosts cheaper, gives an attacker almost nothing. Our own site proves it: candima.ca is plain PHP, no CMS, because it changes twice a year.
A real store. WooCommerce is a plugin doing what Shopify treats as its whole product — tax, shipping, inventory, checkout, card compliance. Under a hundred products it is fine. Above that, keeping stock and payments in step costs more than the subscription you avoided.
Anything shaped like software. Portals, quoting engines, dispatch boards. Once you fight the editor to make a screen behave, you pay twice.
Four things owners get burned by
Plugin bloat
We inherit sites carrying thirty-plus plugins — each one code you did not write, cannot audit, and now depend on. If a plugin does one small thing, twenty lines in the theme beats owning it forever.
Updates are not optional
Releases go onto a staging copy with a fresh backup first. Budget it monthly or meet it as an emergency invoice.
The most attacked platform
Arithmetic, not a flaw — it runs a huge share of the web. Nearly every hacked site we cleaned was entered through an un-updated plugin.
Who holds the licence keys
Nobody asks at kickoff. Whose name is on the premium theme, the page builder, the hosting, the registrar? If it is your agency's, you rent your website rather than own it. Settle it first: admin account, registrar and host logins, licences in your name.
Three live builds, three different answers
Working sites, not mockups — none in Toronto. Each is here because its shape settles the platform question.
Toronto WordPress questions we get asked
Do you have an office in Toronto?
No. Our address is in Burnaby, BC; Toronto clients work with us remotely. Said plainly rather than dressed up as a rented downtown mailbox.
Our WordPress site is slow. Rebuild or fix?
Fix, nine times out of ten. Usually hosting, images or a page builder loading assets everywhere — days, not weeks.
Would you ever tell us not to use WordPress?
Yes, often — even though that is the smaller invoice for us.
Will you take over a site somebody else built?
Yes, after an audit: plugins, versions, backups, who holds what. Sometimes it only needs maintaining.
Is 320 searches a month enough to build on?
No, and implying otherwise would be a lie. It answers one question well for a small audience.
Tell us what the site must do. We will name the platform.
Send the brief — page count, who edits it, whether you sell. You get a recommendation and an honest cost range, including "not WordPress" when that is the answer.
