Website redesign in Los Angeles, where the brand is the product

In LA a site is judged before it is read, so a redesign cuts into the one asset customers already recognise. CANDIMA works with LA clients remotely from Burnaby, BC. No office there, and we will not pretend otherwise.

A city where the website is the audition

Los Angeles runs on businesses whose product is partly how they look — a Melrose label, a Culver City production house, a Silver Lake dining room, an agent whose face is the brand. The site is a credential before it is a shop.

That cuts both ways. LA holds the deepest bench of visual talent in North America — people who cut title sequences build sites between gigs. Beautiful is not scarce here, so it does not deserve a premium. When recognition is the asset, a redesign is surgery, not decoration.

What a $29.78 click says about the firms pitching you

Google’s numbers for LA design intent:

Search termMonthlyCost per click
website redesign los angeles1,000$29.78
web design los angeles1,000$29.78
website design los angeles320$44.21
web design services los angeles90$44.77

Redesign and design intent report identical volume — read 1,000 as the whole LA design market. The dearest term, $44.77, has ninety searches a month.

The LA redesign click costs 1.8 times Toronto’s $16.85, on fewer searches — bidders price project size, not audience size. Do the arithmetic: at $29.78 a click, a three percent enquiry rate and a one-in-four close, an agency spends roughly $4,000 in ads to sign you, and that sits inside your quote. Ask whoever is bidding what it cost to reach you.

The beautiful site that sells nothing

Every studio has shipped one. Full-bleed video that takes four seconds to appear on a phone with two bars in a parking structure. Body copy at fourteen pixels because it reads editorial. A booking button so understated that nobody presses it. Against a plain page saying what this is, where it is, what it costs and how to book, the plain page wins on money. It is not close.

That is not an argument for plain — looking cheap in Los Angeles costs more than a slow hero ever will. Beauty belongs on the first screen, the photography, the type. Restraint belongs everywhere downstream of the decision to buy, because the money hides in load time, information order and the booking flow. Nobody wins an award for those.

Redesigning without spending the brand equity

Five rules when recognition is the asset.

Inventory what people recognise first. Colour, mark, typeface, photographic treatment, the odd detail everyone mentions. That is the equity; the rest is layout.
Measure the site you are about to delete. Most redesigns launch into an unmeasured past, so nobody can prove they helped.
Carry the addresses across one to one. Bulk-redirecting old pages to the homepage is why traffic falls six weeks later.
Keep the photography, replace the frame. Real rooms, food and faces are the believable part; stock in a modern grid is a downgrade with better spacing.
Leave the page that already earns nearly alone. Quicker and sharper, not unrecognisable.

Brand-led builds you can open and judge

CANDIMA is in Burnaby, British Columbia — no Los Angeles studio, no LA phone line, no rented address. What we can show is live work for brand-led businesses. None are LA clients.

Los Angeles redesign questions, answered straight

Do you have a Los Angeles office?

No. Burnaby, British Columbia, working remotely — no mail-drop address in LA. Both cities sit on Pacific Time, so there is no time difference.

Our site looks dated but still brings work in.

Possibly not all of it. If a page earns, make it faster and tidier rather than replace it.

Will a redesign damage our Google rankings?

It can, and the cause is addresses, not design. Map every old URL to its replacement one to one.

Can you build to art direction we already have?

Yes, often the cheapest route. If the visual decisions are made, we build to them.

What if we need somebody on site in LA?

Hire locally. We cannot photograph your room or walk a set, and we say so up front.
