Small business web design services — the market, measured
There are roughly 29,000 searches a month in the US from small business owners looking for help with a website — and the single largest slice of them, 6,600 a month, are looking for a website builder. That tells you what you are actually competing with. Not another agency. Wix, Squarespace and a weekend.
That is a real option and we will say so honestly: if you need four pages, a contact form and nothing else, a template will do it and we are the wrong call. The reason businesses come to us instead is almost always the same — they built the template site, it went live, and nothing happened. No calls. No forms. No way to tell why.
The gap is rarely the design. It is that a template site is a brochure, and a brochure has no opinion about what a visitor should do next. Nothing is measured, so nothing can be improved. Six months later the only honest answer to 'is the site working?' is a shrug.
What we sell is the opposite of a shrug. Every build ships with conversion tracking wired in before launch, so within a fortnight you know your traffic sources, your form completion rate and which pages people leave from. That is the difference between a website and an asset.
